We just can't get it to work properly despite our best efforts.  The manual
states that the RSM cluster monitor is no longer supported.  That in itself
is a deal breaker.  There's no way to query a server to see what jobs are
running, if any.

We've been able to submit 2025 jobs with RSM.  Some times they run, some
times they hang at start up.  Most of the time when they finish, WB on the
host doesn't recognize that the job ever completed, so we can't bring the
results back.

ANSYS says they are replacing RSM in the future, but no ETA on the new
software.

I could not find any information on RSM being "dead" at ANSYS 2025 R1.  What
is the source of that information?

I haven't used).  It came installed on our Dell cluster in 2019 so I don't
have experience setting it up from scratch, just administering it.

We have a small Linux cluster with 4 nodes and a small team w/ 4 or 5 users
and it works great for us.  I set it up about 6 years ago and we've run 1.8M
jobs and haven't had any trouble.  RSM even had support for it in newer
versions (at least through Ansys 2023).

Since RSM is pretty much dead at ANSYS 2025 R1, what is everyone using as a
job scheduler/manager for your servers?  We're a fairly small company and
can't afford one of these larger tools like LSF.

I would contact Ansys support and get your IT involved.  It sounds like one of the many Windows/Ansys/IT issue is at play.  I concur with James, RSM seems very much supported at V2025.

Hello Mr. Metrisin,
The successor to RSM is Ansys HPC Platform Services (HPS).

Ansys HPC Platform Services represents the convergence of Ansys HPC technologies and services.
It supports a wide range of use cases and compute tasks:
Solvers, solutions, pre/post apps, CAD apps, third party apps, cloud services, scripts,
and can be run on many different compute environments:
Workstations, clusters running with schedulers, cloud batch systems, Kubernetes, Ansys Gateway/Access,…
Jobs can be submitted in its Web UI, from Ansys applications like Mechanical or Fluent or also via Python scripting using pyhpshttps://hps.docs.pyansys.com/.

HPS can also be run on Windows workstations (requiring WSL and docker runtime) and allows to easily connect a couple of workstations without using complicated schedulers.

Some links:

Latest release HPS 1.2 is available herehttps://download.ansys.com/platform-components as separate download on Ansys customer portal.

Joe, I use slurm (https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.schedmd.com/slurm/__;!!KM6X6ZXWXVtZ MQ!ePyRP6K5nFNvBVVW9kKpAMuytvpAHcvfUPrm1AQePTs37VpzkTUQhiCei3lENldy19Nezfvny aiTuHT13jNU9FlhyeDUIfBR$ ) Its FOSS, with an option for paid support (that I haven't used). It came installed on our Dell cluster in 2019 so I don't have experience setting it up from scratch, just administering it. We have a small Linux cluster with 4 nodes and a small team w/ 4 or 5 users and it works great for us. I set it up about 6 years ago and we've run 1.8M jobs and haven't had any trouble. RSM even had support for it in newer versions (at least through Ansys 2023). Aaron C. We're a fairly small company and can't afford one of these larger tools like LSF. Joseph T Metrisin Structures Lead Florida Turbine Technologies, Inc 1701 Military Tr.
