Mechanical APDL launcher resolves the file path as UNC

Hi.

I have an old issue with the Mechanical APDL launcher, where I input the file path on a mapped network drive (like R:\ansys_folder), but Ansys.exe resolves this path as a UNC path (so it looks like \\mapped_path\ansys_folder).

The result of this is that for instance the “Resume from…” dialogue does not show any DB files available. After a bit of clicking the files show up after all, but it is quite annoying.

I have an old service request from 2 years ago, where the only ‘fix’ Ansys could come up with was to manually change the working directory after opening Mechanical APDL. Obviously this defeats the purpose of the launcher program.

Do any of you have the same issue and hopefully a more useful solution that Ansys’ non-fix?

Thanks,

Self-comment:

I wrote this post in the forum, but in the mail copy sent to the list it seems that an extra backslash has been inserted for every backslash I wrote in the paths. So please correct this yourselves, manually/mentally :)

Hi Uffe,

I use a batch script together with the ability of the two window file manager I use, FreeCommander XE, to start batch like commands with parameters passed on.

The batch script is based on a post from Sheldon Imaoka on his former website ansys.net.

In the file manager I then can define buttons that start ANSYS with the options I like (GUI or batch, WIN32 or 3D, License preference, jobname, resume database or not, ANSYS version).

If you are interested in this, please let me know.

Best regards,
Martin
