APDL Gui

Hello all,

I know that Ansys inc does not intend to improve the APDL Gui. But I use APDL still much more often than WB. Maybe some of you too.

I remember that a thread in xansys dealt with "suppress auto plotting" switched on by default. Was this issue resolved?

I am looking now for a tweak to enlarge the width of the "resume from" window. The list of directories is very/too small.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards

Peter,
The below command will turn off immediate plotting performed in ANSYS Mechanical APDL following RESUME and CDREAD operations.
Simply execute this command prior to any RESUME or CDREAD:
IMME,0

You may also find value in the /UIS,MSGPOP and /NERR commands.  These each include several undocumented options that were previously summarized on Sheldon's ansys.net website.  Hopefully, someone here has saved those options.  They are handy when performing automated command macros when you want to suppress certain default actions.

Bent,
This is excellent.  Thank you for sharing.  Is there a time limit on the life of this link?  How does it work?

It appears the search function doesn't work ("quick file search" in upper-right).

Here are the two I was referring to:
/NERR,,,field
Ignores all error messages
If field is set to -1, ANSYS will keep running unless a fatal error occurs. All errors are written to jobname.out and jobname.err.
If field is set to -2, ANSYS will behave the same but errors are reported to jobname.err only, not jobname.out.

/UIS,MSGPOP,4
Suppresses error message pop-up dialog box. (Error messages will still be recorded in the jobname.err file and output window/file.)

They're under the Debugging & Configuration commands section linked from the Undocumented page.

There seems to be some kind of time out involved when one searches for .pdf,
.zip, and .mac files. If the Wayback Machine cannot find something within
some specified time, you will see the message below. But I do think most
such files have been archived, but they are stored somewhere that takes a
bit more time to search.

You could wait an hour or two and then try again, or you could try to change
the search for another time ansys.net has been archived. This way you may
have better success.

As mentioned on the following page:

http://ansys.net/

one can download the following spreadsheet:

http://ansys.net/ansys_net.xlsx

which have all the ansys.net contents. And the URL column of that
spreadsheet can be pasted in a web browser to download that file.

So all content of ansys.net does indeed still exist, but the web pages
themselves must be accessed via the Wayback Machine.

Bent,
This is excellent.  Thank you for sharing.  Is there a time limit on the
life of this link?  How does it work?

It appears the search function doesn't work ("quick file search" in
upper-right).

Here are the two I was referring to:
/NERR,,,field
Ignores all error messages
If field is set to -1, ANSYS will keep running unless a fatal error occurs.
All errors are written to jobname.out and jobname.err.
If field is set to -2, ANSYS will behave the same but errors are reported to
jobname.err only, not jobname.out.

/UIS,MSGPOP,4
Suppresses error message pop-up dialog box. (Error messages will still be
recorded in the jobname.err file and output window/file.)

They're under the Debugging & Configuration commands section linked from the
Undocumented page.

I got the same message.  I put http://ansys.net in my browser and did search on that string.  It bounced, but left a note saying:

You can download the Excel spreadsheet containing all of the ansys.net contents. The URL column can be pasted in a web browser to download that file.

I downloaded the Excel file, and it looks like a handy spreadsheet to keep around.  Thanks for the conversation that led to this!
