i know this can be with the LSWRIT command, but I like to be able to easily substitute a parameter name of the pressure and be able to read back in later.

Hi Dan,
Not sure if I understand your question exactly, but you can assign a
parameter dynamically as a load something like this: sf, zone1, pres,
%pres_zone1%. Later on, if you want to change the pressure values, you only
need to update the pres_zone1 parameter. You don't need to reapply it with
the SF command.

Likewise; I'm not sure if I understand the question fully either. But I wonder if PARSAV and PARRES would work in this situation.
