Hello:

I am using ANSYS with LS-DYNA.

Problem: I am trying to understand the forces applied on a solid ball (3.56" diameter) which is sheared through a hollow pipe (3.5" inch ID)
Question: 1. How to import the ball into ANSYS so that I can place the ball at the starting point of the pipe and apply pressure. When I try to import the IGES I get it aligned to the center and I am unable to place where I would like to.

  1. How can I select only the areas which I want to mesh, I want to select only the pipe areas after meshing to constraint the boundary conditions.

Any literature or links for ANSYS LS-DYNA will be helpful. Thanks.
