Hi Mladen,
How were you able to get the cluster monitor to work? The manual (Chapter
10 RSM Troubleshooting) says "The RSM cluster load monitoring application is
no longer functional and is not supported"

Hi Joe,
FYI,
I have just weeks ago (re)installed RSM and it works as expected, monitoring
and all the usual stuff.
Perhaps, it is the a bit changed, vague install procedure that is troubling
you, as it did me? But it all works as expected once done.

We just can't get it to work properly despite our best efforts. The manual
states that the RSM cluster monitor is no longer supported. That in itself
is a deal breaker. There's no way to query a server to see what jobs are
running, if any.
We've been able to submit 2025 jobs with RSM. Some times they run, some
times they hang at start up. Most of the time when they finish, WB on the
host doesn't recognize that the job ever completed, so we can't bring the
results back.
ANSYS says they are replacing RSM in the future, but no ETA on the new
software.

I haven't used). It came installed on our Dell cluster in 2019 so I don't
have experience setting it up from scratch, just administering it.
We have a small Linux cluster with 4 nodes and a small team w/ 4 or 5 users
and it works great for us. I set it up about 6 years ago and we've run 1.8M
jobs and haven't had any trouble. RSM even had support for it in newer
versions (at least through Ansys 2023).

Off topic question for XANSYS Admins...
It seems like I only received about half of the messages associated with this RSM thread. The only way I know there were missing messages is because I scroll through the few that arrived in my Inbox and see emails sent from other XANSYS participants, using the XANSYS mailing list, but never received those actual messages separately in my Inbox. I believe someone else was asking about a similar problem in February. Is there an ongoing problem with the email server or its host?

Subject: [Xansys] Re: [External] - RE: RSM replacement
We just can't get it to work properly despite our best efforts. The
manual states that the RSM cluster monitor is no longer supported. That in
itself is a deal breaker. There's no way to query a server to see what
jobs are running, if any.
We've been able to submit 2025 jobs with RSM. Some times they run, some
times they hang at start up. Most of the time when they finish, WB on the
host doesn't recognize that the job ever completed, so we can't bring the
results back.
ANSYS says they are replacing RSM in the future, but no ETA on the new
software.

I could not find any information on RSM being "dead" at ANSYS 2025 R1.
What is the source of that information?
Thank You,

Thanks Aaron.
Unfortunately, that isn't an option for us. We are entirely a Windows
network, and it doesn't look like SLURM is supported on Windows.

Joe,
I use slurm

(that I haven't used). It came installed on our Dell cluster in 2019 so I
don't have experience setting it up from scratch, just administering it.
We have a small Linux cluster with 4 nodes and a small team w/ 4 or 5
users and it works great for us. I set it up about 6 years ago and we've
run 1.8M jobs and haven't had any trouble. RSM even had support for it in
newer versions (at least through Ansys 2023).

Since RSM is pretty much dead at ANSYS 2025 R1, what is everyone using as a
job scheduler/manager for your servers? We're a fairly small company and
can't afford one of these larger tools like LSF.

Does this have something to do with the email platform we use? Mine is a
gmail-based address.
Looking at the server and at my email there were seven messages in the
thread before the question about non receipt of messages.
There were further posts from Aaron Caba and James Judd that didn't make
it to the server and only appear because they also sent a copy direct to
Joe.
Pease note that all users can look at the online archive if they wish to

Are you saying that this address situation...

Also, could you provide a link to the online archive please?
