Dan,
Here is the information on the Ansys customer portal on this message:

The message matters.  This error message may be caused by mixing the data types and is not related to what type of CAD model is imported.

When a user imports the Parasolid model and toggles on, the model data will go to XOX, and the model data is called Web based.

If it is turned off, the model data will go to the native MADPDL database, and it's called Smooth.

If a user defeatures the model and then creates geometries inside MAPDL, there will be mixed data which can cause problems later.

True, but I've gotten this several times over the years.

My two cents.  If the modeling methods are between separate parts, it's not likely to cause an issue.
Also, it can cause issues but not a definite. Lots of other things that can cause similar issues. (corrupted geometry)

Half my models require keeping a connected (geometry associative version) and one that is disassociated for solve anyway.
Never understood why a solution has to bomb out when the mesh is fine, and you're not applying geometry based loads.

Good luck Dan!
