Hi,
I did a Topology Optimization routine to my part, after a static analysis. Right now I am facing 2 problems:
1)-I get an error when I try to link my optimized geoemetry to Design Validation module, both by means of geometry and model. The error is due to the .stl file not being smooth enough
2)-So I exported a smooth .stl file of my optimized geometry and imported it in a new static analysis. Now, when I try to mesh I get the following error:
"The mesh generation did not complete due to poor quality elements or incorrect input. Please try meshing with another mesh method or different mesh options. "
I tried many different element sizes, doing body mesh. However, the error remains.
Any ideias to circunvent/avoid the problems in 1) and 2)?
I thank you in advance,

Hi,
I have been working on similar issues from past two months, unless the
optimised shape is a very basic and simple shape, model verification
workflow ends with an error as you have stated.
Workarounds as per my experience:
Import the stl file into any CAD software, it's called faceted CAD,
under facets ribbon (spaceclaim) you can simplify few features or remove un
necessary details, then move to 'Auto skin' tool to generate CAD surfaces
(most probably end up with surface model with bad faces, missing faces,
intersections)
Use tools that can convert 3d scan data to CAD (Reverse engineering
tools, ex: Geomagic Design X) and generate surfaces from stl. outcome is
not a perfect one, based on complexity further CAD corrections are
unavoidable
Forward this stl to a CAD engineer, if he can generate a CAD, taking the
stl as an inspiration, also considering the manufacturability.

It may be worth opening the stl in MeshLab https://www.meshlab.net/
(opensource,
free, can just download executable) and using one of the smoothing and
simplification tools there. It can be a little rough to get used to but it
is incredibly powerful and will more than likely be able to smooth the mesh
out enough. There are a bunch of tutorials on youtube using meshlab for
this.
